UPDATED: A Crime So Unforgivable The ASPCA Has Offered $22,000 To Find Who Did It

UPDATE 02/02/15

NBC 4 New York has recently reported an increase of $2,000 in the reward offered by the ASPCA for information regarding the case of the dog found in a suitcase in the Bronx. However, a representative at the NYC ASPCA has informed BarkPost that the reward for information leading to arrest and conviction has been $22,000 though originally reported to be $20,000. Persons who believe they have knowledge of the circumstances leading to the dog’s abandonment should call call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.

The ASPCA has seen a lot of hurt animals in its day, but this most recent case, of a Pit Bull abandoned in the Bronx after being shoved into a suitcase, has compelled the animal welfare organization to offer a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator of this recent crime.

Still in the care of the ASPCA, the pup was found in a Bronx housing development, inside a piece of luggage, severely malnourished and disoriented.

“This dog was deprived of food and water, then discarded on a city curb as if it were garbage,” said the President of the ASPCA.

In response to the presence of animal cruelty in its community, the NYPD has founded an animal cruelty unit in conjunction with the ASPCA. Called KARE (K9 Annex for Recovery and Enrichment), the unit is dedicated solely to weeding out animal abuse-related crimes.
