A few years ago my wife and I started the process of adopting a pup. Unfortunately the landlord wouldn’t allow us to bring a dog into the building and that was the end of it.

However, our doggie dream got reignited when we recently moved to a dog friendly building in Brooklyn. We needed a hypoallergenic pup and after months and months of searching online, while also visiting various rescues and shelters, we finally found our pup-mate! It wasn’t easy and the process was long but we persevered all thanks to the Bark & Co team.

About a month ago, we rescued Monty from Animal Haven, a shelter in New York City, located downtown a few blocks from the BarkBox HQ. This was only made possible after a group of BarkBox employees volunteered at the shelter during their lunch hour. As part of BarkGood, an essential part of Bark & Co’s mission, we are consistently looking to help dogs in need.

During the volunteering outing, Monty’s previous owner surrendered him because another pet in their family was becoming jealous of the young pup. Due to his overwhelming cuteness and desire for attention I can see how that may arise, but it’s a grievance for it to be a reason to surrender a puppy. Luckily organizations like Animal Haven exist, and thanks to Bark employees quickly coming together he found a furever home with my family.

Monty is now living the life with us in Bark Slope, Brooklyn. He has puppy dates with other dogs in the neighborhood and gets to enjoy the off-leash hours at Prospect Park. He even occasionally comes to our dog friendly office and was recently promoted to Chief Puppy Accountant.
