Worried To Fly With Your Dog? Delta Has What You’ve Been Waiting For.

Flying with your dog is nothing short of worrisome. Especially if your pup can’t be your carry-on. Add to this the fact that airlines have had issues with transporting pets, and you’ve got yourself a flight filled with anxiety.

In order to ease pup parents’ minds just a little bit, starting April 1, Delta is offering GPS Pet Trackers to passengers flying with their tail-waggers. For the price of $50, you’ll get real-time updates on the temperature surrounding your pup. You’ll also be able to monitor your pet’s position (right-side up or sitting askew).

According to Bloomberg, “The number of animals that die while in an airline’s care has been dropping in recent years.”

However, accidents do occur. Bloomberg reported that, “Delta has had the most animal deaths among U.S. carriers in the past five years, with 51, though it has had only 6 since 2013, Transportation Department data show. In 2014, U.S. airlines reported 17 animal deaths, including some that were out of the airline’s control. That’s down from 39 in 2010.”

While this is definitely a step in the right direction, we won’t be able to breathe easy until there’s a fool-proof way to keep our buddies safe on flights.
