9 Dog Breeds Who Never Won Westminster Want Leo To Know Winning Isn’t Everything

If the Oscars and Westminster have anything in common, it’s that the winner is never the one you expect. Yes, I’m taking about Leonardo DiCaprio, but I’m also talking about quite a lot of other pups who’ve been robbed of their chance at greatness. The dog breeds below have never ever won a Best in Show title at Westminster. Why not? Some might say it’s simply because they’re not terriers, but I digress…

Here are 9 dog breeds who learned you don’t always have to be a winner to be the best! (Plus, a few special “guest appearances.”)

1. The Labrador Retriever

Does this little guy look like he’s concerned he’s never won the big prize? No. No he doesn’t. He looks cute and happy and he knows awards are basically a meaningless human construction. Probably.

2. The Greater-Than-Great Great Dane

On a long list of things this dog doesn’t care about, awards and titles are right up there with “never having broccoli again” and “never wearing Mom’s t-shirts again”.

3. The Golden Retriever

This one may come as a bit of a shock to most all of you, but America’s beloved Golden Retriever (Air Bud, Shadow in “Homeward Bound”) has never once won big at Westminster. Could it be a conspiracy? No. We doubt it. But one day these perfect nuggets will have their day. In the meantime, they’re busy ruling Hollywood.

4. Leonardo DiCaprio when he didn’t win the Academy Award for “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”

Ahh, to be young and full of hope! Look how spritely and optimistic he is. “You will have such a brilliant career, Leo! You will! Don’t listen to what they tell you!” – future Leo talking to younger Leo.

5. The Boston Terrier

There isn’t much to be said about the Boston Terrier. They can find joy inside of a paper bag (please don’t attempt this). Awards mean very little to these perfect goobers. Also, they look great in fashions!

6. The Shih-Tzu

Shih-Tzu’s are actually offended by awards as a whole. These glorious, fluffy pups know their worth from birth, and the though of being offered a “reward” for being “undeniably perfect” is a strange and mysterious thought to a Shih-Tzu as clearly indicated by this handsome, bow-tie wearing gent.

7. Leo Dicaprio when he didn’t win the Academy Award for “Aviator”

Now, although this picture may look like Leo is screaming internally, and although there’s a small caption that reads “screams internally”, I want to be very clear and make sure everyone knows Leo didn’t care one bit about winning this award. What most people don’t know is that Leo was more concerned with what he was going to finish his newly-remodeled kitchen countertops with. 2005 was a big year for granite, but how do you veer away from the classics?

8. The Shetland Sheepdog

The Shetland Sheepdog, or as they’re known by us common folk, “fluffy noo-noos”, have never won Best in Show. Normally we’d be outraged by this kind of nonsense, but the Shetland Sheepdog, quite like the Shih-Tzu, understands it supersedes awards in a way other breeds cannot. Just look at this guy! How much more perfect can you get?

9. Leonardo DiCaprio when he didn’t win the Academy Award for “Blood Diamond”

2007 was a rough year for Britney Spears Leonardo DiCaprio, but he didn’t let his losing an Academy Award stop him from brushing the dirt of that shoulder and giving a classy nod to the nearest camera. After all, it’s just an award show, not an actual assessment of his worth.

10. The Miniature Schnauzer

Miniature Schnauzer’s deal with their unwarranted inability to win awards by snuggling with their owners and overloading themselves with treats and belly rubs.

11. The Rottweiler

Rottweiler’s have bigger fish to fry than winning awards. They have squirrels to chase, tennis balls to catch, things that don’t exist to bark at, faces to lick… I mean, the list goes on and on. And on. AND. ON.

12. The Chihuahua

Chihuahua’s are merely biding their time until they make for an entire world takeover. Award shows a simply a blip on their radar.

13. Finally, Leonardo DiCaprio when he didn’t win the Academy Award for “The Wolf Of Wall Street”

At this point, Leo has adjusted to the cruelties of fate. What he hasn’t, however, is figured out how he actually lost that award. I mean, let’s be honest. He was the best. He was! That movie was amazing. It was long, but whatever. He was amazing. Needless to say, 2016 is looking mighty fine for our guy Leo. (Don’t quote me on this).

GO GET ‘EM THIS YEAR, LEO!
