Even Crafting Dummies Can Make This Etsy-riffic DIY Dog Bed

Dog beds sure can be expensive. So the good hoomans at BrightNest put their heads together to solve this pawblem and came up with a charming, simple to make dog bed that is inexpensive and easy create on your own. (No needle and thread are required! 😉 ) Such a pawfect project definitely needed some BarkPost repost ruv.

What you’ll need:

a suitcase
old pillow(s)
swatch of fabric (in a pattern of your choice)
dog toys
scissors
white vinegar (optional)
soft cloth (optional)
paper and pen (optional)
carpet sample the size of the suitcase (if you have a cat)
upholstery glue (optional)

1. Clean the Suitcase

You don’t want dustballs being snarfled up by your pup! If your suitcase is already clean, you can skip ahead to step two! If not, give the exterior a wipe down with white vinegar and a soft cloth. Make sure the interior of the suitcase is dust-free, too.

2. Place Pillow Inside Suitcase

Fluff it up a little bit. If your suitcase is large, you may want to opt for multiple pillows so your pup can be snuggle down just the way they like to when they snooze (or when they want to creepily watch their hoomans in comfort).

3. Cut the Fabric to Size

Cut a swatch of fabric so it’s about two inches larger than the suitcase on all four sides. Tip: The best way to do this is to trace the suitcase beforehand, making sure that there is extra space on each side.

4. Wrap the Pillow

Cover the pillow with the fabric and then tuck the ends in as if you were tucking in your sheets to make a two-legger bed.

Now for the fun part! Toss all of your dog’s toys onto his or her bed. Scatter with treats so they can check it out and munch. Add a sign. Maybe a banner. Go wild with yo’ puppy style.

6. Let you pup enjoy! 🙂
