7 Inspired Dog Inventions That Will Be Reality Soon

7 Inspired Dog Inventions That Will Be Reality Soon

There are so many pawesome dog-themed inventions, services, and art projects on Kickstarter. Here are some inspiring campaigns that help pups. If you’re feeling philanthropic, donate to these causes (and collect some sweet rewards!).

1. Disco Dog – The smartphone controlled LED dog vest

Your dog can light up the night in this high-tech vest. It features customizable messages or patterns in thousands of colors, but most importantly, it keeps dogs safe and visible in the dark. If your dog ventures too far away and the signal to your phone is lost, an automatic “Lost Dog” message will display. Plus it’ll be so stylish at the next dog park rave.

2. Hedz UP Pets Watercollar Personal Flotation Device – A life preserver to prevent dogs from drowning

Protect your dog in the water. This comfortable floatation device attaches to your dog’s collar and is an ideal training aid for senior or disabled dogs. Unlike life jackets, the Watercollar keeps a dog’s head and nose above water, even if they should (dog forbid!) become unconscious.

3. McDoggies Doggy Meal Deal – Fast Dog Food

Your dog really, really wants a bite of your fast food order. McDoggies presents the Doggy Meal Deal™, which includes a bottle of KetchPup®, a bag of Fetch Fries®, and the original Burger Bone™. All products are USDA Certified Organic and made from healthy ingredients dogs love, so you can supersize their meal without supersizing their bellies.

4. Sit Stay Ride 2: Sidecar Dogs Return – Dogcumentary

The followup to last year’s feature-length documentary film about dogs in motorcycle sidecars. Follow the adventures and relationships of humans and their road companions. This sequel explores further the stories covered in the first film, as well as a historical perspective. If you think a dog hanging out of a car window looks happy, you’ve got to see this campaign’s vintage-themed video (one word: doggles.)

5. Run Dog! Run! – Children’s book

This is the story of a boy and his dog inspired by and featuring the author’s own son and pet. The book features full color photographs and engaging text to help children ages 2-6 learn about nature and their surroundings. The many “R” words in the text are a tool for children in speech therapy who are working to master the R sound. Ruv it.

6. FIDO Magazine – Maine’s guide to all things dog

FIDO is a quarterly print magazine with the goal of creating an active and supportive community for dogs in Maine. The project focuses on canine wellness, giving back to the community, and collaboration with local dog parents. (I just Googled “can dogs eat lobster?”)

7. Nutty Jar – Peanut Butter Dog Toy

The Nutty Jar is for the peanut butter-obsessed pooch. (Isn’t that MOST dogs?) It’s a safe, nylon toy that keeps dogs entertained for hours. Watch the video for hilarious commentary by spokesdogs Snoop and Nelly. I think my dog is going to be obsessed with this toy. Maybe she’ll back this campaign!
