Peanut butter was put on the planet so humans and dogs could share a common guilty pleasure. You’re not going to convince me otherwise. Whether it’s on a sandwich or in one of those dog toys, people and puppies are always finding excuses to enjoy that nutty spread. And creamy? It’s time to meet crunchy: rolled oats. Chilled to perfection, these quick peanut butter bites make the perfect summer treat for you and your pup. Grab one for yourself or use them as treats. (In moderation, of course! Don’t want any upset tummies. As always, ask your vet if you are concerned about making any changes in your pup’s diet.)
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
1 ½ cups rolled oats
¾ cup natural peanut butter (Make sure it doesn’t have xylitol!)
½ cup ground flax seed
¼ cup honey
½ cup chocolate chips (optional: note, dogs should never be given chocolate. It’s poison to them. Only add chocolate if you’re sharing with only humans. Don’t want any accidental mixups!)
1. Combine oats, peanut butter, flaxseed and honey together until thoroughly mixed. Stir. If sharing with humans only, add chocolate as well. Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
2. Roll into balls of any size. Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to a week.
