Lilica the Junkyard Dog Does Something Really Special For Her Junkyard Homies Each Night

Abandoned dogs scavenging for food in trash piles is not an unfamiliar sight in junkyards. But at one dumping ground in the city of São Carlos, Brazil, one dog has proven that there’s still some good to be found in the most humble of places.

Meet Lilica, a pup that travels four miles nightly to Lucia Helena de Souza’s home for a bag of cooked rice and beans. Most dogs as hungry as Lilica would probably scarf down the entire thing at once, so de Souza found it odd when Lilica stopped eating, picked up the bag, and left.

After following her through dangerous roads and highways, de Souza was led to Lilica’s junkyard home, where her four-legged homies waited eagerly for the noms Lilica carefully carried back for them.

“An animal sharing things with other animals is a lesson for us,” says junkyard owner Mrs. Neire. Take note, hoomans. It’s always good to lend a paw when you can. 🙂
