It’s almost the dog days of summer, which means it’s time to travel. But what about your actual dog?

Rover.com tapped into their doggy database to see how most pet parents handle summer travel. When 94 percent of dog owners consider their canine part of the family, it’s no surprise most pup parents have trouble leaving their pet behind on vacation.

Out of the dog owners polled, 37 percent confessed to crying before leaving on a vacation without their dog, while 39 percent admitted they have skipped planned trips due to issues with their pets.

The key to peace of mind when it comes to traveling appears to be finding a good dog-sitter. Eighty percent of owners said they feel less guilty leaving their dogs at home when they feel confident in their pet-sitter.
