This Deaf Pit Bull Is Learning Sign Language To Help Herself Get Adopted

Shirley “Cha Cha” is more than just a gorgeous special needs Pit Bull, she’s also an academic! She’s two years old, fully deaf and she has started to learn sign language to help facilitate her search for a forever home.

Cha Cha also has a limp from a broken leg that never properly healed and she was adopted once before a couple years ago but was returned to the shelter around a year later because she wasn’t getting along with her new cat siblings.

Deaf Shelter Dog Learns To Communicate Through Sign Language

She’s currently with the Chako Pit Bull Rescue and Advocacy group in Sacramento, CA and they have begun teaching her basic commands in sign language in the hopes that it will attract her forever family (if that little face doesn’t do the job first).

As seen in the video posted to Chako’s Facebook page, Cha Cha can successfully stay, sit, lie down and come. She doesn’t mind loud noises, such as fireworks or barking dogs, and she loves playing with her fellow pooches, but she’s a chaser so any potential homes should be sans small critters.

This girl is already working hard to make her future forever family happy. If you think she might be a good fit for yours, email dogs@chako.org.
